Idaho Environmental Coalition – Basic Technical Services Agreement Contract
Sigma Science was awarded a five-year (order period) task order contract for nuclear professional technical services for the Idaho Environmental Coalition (IEC), the DOE Office of Environmental Management prime contractor at the Idaho National Laboratory.
The initial task order under this contract calls for civil and structural engineering analyses for nuclear facilities. Under this task, Sigma staff apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts to develop solutions to complex problems while serving as subject matter experts (SMEs) on component design and analysis, primarily with steel and concrete. Sigma Science act as STAAD-Pro (structural analysis and design software) SMEs, providing engineering support from concept to final design of complex structural systems in water pools supporting spent nuclear fuel processing.
Key accomplishments under this contract to date include:
- Provided conceptual design for nuclear fuel processing equipment support stands, including seismic analysis.
- Performed in-depth review of technical and functional requirements for a spent fuel handling system.
- Provided in-depth modeling and analysis of Field Transfer Container placement and processing in a legacy facility.
