Honeywell Supply Chain Management Center - Consolidated Nuclear Security, Inc., Pantex Plant Nuclear Safety and Fire Protection Engineering Support
Sigma Science has performed under multiple contracts at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Pantex Plant (Pantex), providing nuclear safety, criticality safety engineering, fire protection engineering, and conduct of operations support. These contracts ran from January 2, 2019, to September 30, 2022. The contracts had a combined value of $9.2 million.
Sigma performed the following activities under the Pantex contracts:
- Provided expertise for Technical Safety Review (TSR) improvements for the site-wide Documented Safety Analysis (DSA), Mass Properties upgrade Safety Analysis Report (SAR) revision, and Weapons Program Hazard Analysis Reports (HAR).
- Developed and implemented a Corrective Action Plan to address Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) recommendations.
- Provided leadership and technical expertise for designing and installing upgraded fire detection and alarm systems for mission-critical facilities in support of the NNSA stockpile management program mission.
- Updated and maintained Fire Hazard Analyses (FHAs) for Pantex facilities, ensuring consistent FHA and DSA fire modeling.
- Led a Nuclear Criticality Safety review and provided recommendations on significant accumulations of fissile material in Building 9212 process areas.
- Maintained and improved facility, equipment, and utility infrastructure (one key to sustaining the nation’s nuclear deterrent). Sigma was tasked by Consolidated Nuclear Security, Inc. (CNS) with reducing risk and improving asset management through proactive maintenance and upgrades of the Pantex legacy fire protection equipment and systems.
Key Sigma Science facilities, equipment, and utility infrastructure accomplishments and initiatives for CNS at Pantex include:

Note: The term “beneficial occupancy” indicates new fire suppression systems and all associated systems affected by installation processes have completed construction and acceptance testing, and documentation for system configuration management (including new and updated drawings and completed technical baseline documents) is in a controlled system. All maintenance procedures to maintain systems per required inspections, testing, and codes (and TSR requirements) are published. Also, DSA change packages are with applicable control flow-down matrices.
