Technical and Engineering Services to NNSA (NA-122) at Sandia National Laboratories and Washington, DC

Sigma Science provided technical support services to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) in Washington, DC, and at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) in New Mexico, under a $4.3 million 3-year contract, awarded on December 10, 2020. Sigma Science was the small-business prime contractor for the Enterprise-Wide Technical and Engineering Support Alliance (E-TESA-2). TechSource, Inc. is part of the Sigma team. The contract scope focused on engineering and technical support services. Under the contract, the Sigma team provided program and technical management support, program analyst support, and senior principal weapons analyst support. Support was provided to the Office of Nuclear Weapons Stockpile Sustainment (NA-122) and the Stockpile Services Division (NA-122.1).

Key work scope included:

  • Supported the development of stockpile quantities with the Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Conducted stockpile analyses and assessment meetings.
  • Conducted and lead independent stockpile life cycle studies.
  • Prepared and review NNSA production capabilities documents.
  • Identified required strategic materials and infrastructure.
  • Supported implementation of planning, programming, budgeting, and execution (PPBE) for multi-weapon systems and production operations work scopes.
  • Integrated managing and operating work scopes for stockpile sustainment and cross-cutting programs that enable weapon sustainment and integrate business and organizational processes.
  • Provided stockpile mission operations and logistics management support, delivering limited life components, spares, and support equipment.
  • Tracked surveillance activities and manage weapon production data.
  • Supported Weapons Reliability Report preparation and track Significant Findings Investigations and Major Assembly Releases.
  • Supported strategic partnership programs.
  • Supported stockpile stakeholder engagement and information sharing.
  • Provided program support and independent technical analyses of the NNSA Product Realization Integrated Digital Enterprise Program.
  • Conducted independent technical and programmatic evaluations and assessments of model-based systems engineering.

Under this contract, the Sigma team providesd critical personnel resources who have special skills working with nuclear weapons programs. The NNSA recognized Sigma Science for having the expertise and ability to provide daily support in multiple areas. Sigma Science leveraged the unique skill sets of the Sigma team members, providing training and mentoring senior NNSA members.
