Sandia National Laboratories (SNL)
Sigma Science provides SNL with nuclear professional services and operations support for nuclear facilities at Tech Area 5 along with technical survey/audit and engineering/architectural support services for the balance of the Laboratory. We also provide technical support for materials control and accountability, safeguards and security research and development (R&D), program management, and mission computing (in the areas of nuclear materials management, criticality safety, and environment, safety and health). Sigma has provided software and cyber security professionals to support SNL’s R&D programs. Our capabilities directly contribute to the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Nuclear Weapons Life Extension Programs, Global Security and Non-Proliferation, Cybersecurity, and Safeguards and Security R&D, all of which are vital elements of the US National Security Enterprise.
Pantex Plant/Y-12 Complex
Sigma Science provides Consolidated Nuclear Security (CNS) with highly specialized Fire Protection and Nuclear Safety technical support services for the DOE’s Pantex Plant in Texas and the Y-12 National Security Complex in Tennessee. Our capabilities directly contribute to upgrading and improving mission critical facilities and safety basis documents in support of weapons production activities (including assembly and disassembly) related to the NNSA’s Managing the Stockpile mission.
Department of Defense, US Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC)
Sigma Science provides independent evaluation of nuclear safety analysis reports, develops technical nuclear safety analysis documents for essential facility systems, and uses probabilistic risk analysis tools to support compliance with nuclear surety standards for the maintenance and storage of nuclear weapon systems. We directly support the Air Force Military construction process with studies, analysis, and recommendations to support compliance with mission requirements for survivability, vulnerability safety, surety, and security. Our capabilities directly contribute to the AFNWC’s Nuclear Technology and Integration Directorate objectives.
Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL)
Sigma Science provides nuclear safety basis development and implementation, nuclear criticality safety analysis, engineering, operations, project management, mission computing, and environmental management support to TRIAD and N3B at LANL. This includes developing and implementing nuclear safety documents (e.g., Documented Safety Analyses, Technical Safety Requirements, Unreviewed Safety Question Determinations, and Nuclear Criticality Safety Evaluations) and acting as the primary liaison for these documents with Department of Energy (DOE) and Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) staff. We also provide embedded mission computing services, which includes developing custom mission software and modeling/simulation codes that run on LANL’s classified high performance computing clusters. Our capabilities directly contribute to the NNSA’s Nuclear Weapons, Global Security and Non-Proliferation, Waste Management, and Environmental Management Programs.
National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
Sigma Science provides a wide range of technical support services to the NNSA Acquisition and Project Management (APM) Office in Los Alamos (NA-APM-1.5), including engineering, quality assurance, project management, construction management, and administrative support services. We also provide environment, safety, and health support services (e.g. Integrated Safety Management, construction safety, nuclear safety, compliance assessment, fire protection, and NEPA planning, execution, and permitting). Our capabilities directly support the NNSA in implementing effective oversight and management of Major System Acquisition projects at LANL, such as the Chemistry and Metallurgy Research Replacement (CMRR) Facility Project and the Los Alamos Plutonium Pit Production Project (LAP4).
Additionally, Sigma provides technical, engineering, and program support services to the NNSA Office of the Executive Secretariat (NA-MB-1.3) and the Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs (NA-10) in Washington, DC. Scope includes management, organizational, and administrative support in the areas of controlled unclassified and classified correspondence/document processing, visitor access, strategic communications, records management, and program management. Our capabilities directly contribute to successful day-to-day operations for NA-MB-1.3 and NA-10.
DOE Office of Environmental Management (DOE-EM)
Sigma Science provides technical, regulatory, environmental, and administrative support services to the DOE-EM in Washington, D.C.; technical and advisory support services for Mercury cleanup activities at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Tennessee; and nuclear safety and criticality safety analysis technical support services to the DOE-EM cleanup mission in Los Alamos. We also developed a Documented Safety Analysis for Area G in Los Alamos. Our capabilities directly contribute to the DOE-EM Waste Management and Environmental Restoration missions across the DOE complex.
Nevada National Security Site (NNSS)
Sigma Science provides a wide range of technical support services in the areas of project/program management, systems engineering, nuclear safety, and strategic risk management for Management Support and Test Services (MSTS), the management & operating contractor for the NNSS. Our capabilities directly support core NNSA Nuclear Weapons, Global Security and Non-Proliferation, and Safety/Infrastructure Programs at the NNSS.
Savannah River Site (SRS)
The Department of Energy (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Savannah River Acquisition and Project Management Office (SR APMO) missions are unique, complex, and diverse, and include the Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation missions, the Defense Programs project to repurpose the former Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility at the SRS as the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF), and the expansion of SR APMO scope to include the Tritium Finishing Facility, and Surplus Plutonium Disposition. As an E-TESA-2 small business Contractor Team Arrangement Member and lead for the support services contract to the SR APMO, Sigma Science provides technical support services including technical, engineering, project controls, construction, nuclear quality assurance, and programmatic support services.
Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)
Sigma Science provided technical and administrative support services to ORNL’s Fissile Material Disposition Program and currently supports ORNL’s Nuclear Energy Projects and High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) Safety Basis Team. We have also provided technical and project management support services to ORNL’s Global Security and Non-Proliferation Program Office. Our capabilities directly contribute to key DOE Office of Nuclear Energy Programs.
